We are so excited for this Blues Night! Joining Deborah Stafford and her award-winning Blues Band, The State of Affairs this time, will be the Fabulous
Robert Johnson!
Robert has done it all, from sharing the stage with greats like Stevie Wonder and Stan Getz to performing with the 17th Avenue Allstars, collaborating with Dotsero and winning a regional Grammy for his work on Michael Friedman’s “Seize the Day”. He was voted Best Male Vocalist in the Denver Post's Readers Poll, Best Jazz Vocalist by the Colorado Black Artists Association, was honored as Colorado’s Best Male Singer by the News and Radio Media and Best Male Vocalist by the Colorado Songwriters Association. Currently Robert can be heard on his CD releases through his label Jakarta Records Ltd. Those recordings are "Richard The Third", "Black Prince Road" and "Home for The Holidays". His latest release "All Blue" takes one back to the days of the cool! Robert is equally at home in Jazz or Blues and his Boulder Blues Quartet is made up of THE BEST players in Colorado. Deborah and her Band are honored to have them share their stage.
Deborah Stafford & The State of Affairs are making a name for themselves in the Blues World. Having just returned from Memphis and competing in
the International Blues Challenge, they did Colorado proud representing Mile High Blues Society on Beale Street. Their CD "Blused and Confused" also made it to the semi-finals in the best self-produced CD category. Deborah has opened for Hamilton Loomis, performed at numerous festivals - most
recently Sweetwater Blues & Brews - and is always included in The Colorado Women of Jazz Showcase. Her band is made up of true professionals whose
Blues Cred is beyond question. Dave “Doc” Dougherty is Deborah's partner in crime, collaborating with Deborah on writing songs for the group and giving
them tasty licks on the guitar. Bob Tiger, a Chicago bluesman of many years amazes on the bass. Alayna Simmons, “The Austin Sax”, who won best horn
player with Colorado Blues Society last year, wails on the Sax, and Doug “JJ” Murphy keeps the beat driving and everybody dancing. Join us for a great
evening!
